The Hunger Games: Review

I finally read The Hunger Games! It was SO fabulous! I really loved how every chapter ended in suspense. I just HAD to keep reading! Five stars and two thumbs up!

Katniss Everdeen volunteers to take her sister’s place when she is chosen to compete in The Hunger Games. Peeta Mellark is the boy tribute for District 12. The Hunger Games is the Capitol’s way of keeping them in line, forcing kids to kill each other. Each year, there’s a victor, and only once has a tribute from District 12 won. There are twelve districts, but there used to be thirteen. District 13 got destroyed when there was an uprising.

During the interviews, Peeta confesses that he’s had a crush on Katniss “ever since I [Peeta] laid eyes on her”. Katniss is astonished by this. Now she’ll have to kill the boy (probably the only boy ever) who has a crush on her. In this suspenseful novel, Suzanne Collins keeps her readers going the whole way.
